Maggie's Cancer Centres

Andrew was asked to take on the role of Head of Corporate Partnerships at Maggie’s Centres and to manage the team for a short period following a restructure.

 

Despite the strong cause and emotive nature of the charity’s work, providing state-of-the-art centres for cancer care, this was a challenging brief. The corporate fundraising team, split between London and Glasgow, had been through a tough few months and needed someone to come on board and 'steady the ship'.

 

The role was about providing effective team support, maximising short-term income and meeting existing targets. It was also about listening to the team members, involving them in key decisions affecting them and providing them with a strong management ‘anchor point’. At the same time, the process of rebuilding the team’s internal image had to be initiated, along with a strategic review of Maggie’s approach to corporate engagement.

 

In late August, having managed the team for four months, Andrew handed over the baton to the newly recruited permanent Head of Corporate Partnerships.
